mapp IO provides a mechanism that monitors whether the hardware configuration has been modified externally (i.e. not using mapp IO), for example via an Automation Studio download or using the Runtime Utility Center. If the hardware configuration is changed in this way while mapp IO is active, then an Alarm is triggered.
Check whether hardware configuration should be restored
When mapp IO is activated, the system checks whether the hardware configuration of the backup file device and the hardware configuration loaded from the ROM are identical. If this is not the case, then the hardware configuration was modified externally (i.e. not using mapp IO). mapp IO now must decide whether to keep the new hardware configuration or to reactivate the last configuration imported via mapp IO. The user can control this decision using parameter "ImportAllowed" on MpIOImport.
If input "ImportAllowed = TRUE", this may cause the controller to restart; once this is completed, the imported hardware configuration is active again. If this automatic restore procedure is not desired, it can be prevented using input "ImportAllowed = FALSE" on MpIOImport.
This means that even after an Automation Studio download (1) the controller can automatically restart ("ImportAllowed = TRUE") if the configurations do not match (2). After the restart, the configuration for the backup file device is imported (3). "ImportAllowed=FALSE" can be used to switch automatic recovery off.
